Old Griesbach Photos

I took these shots of one of the original neighbourhoods at the old Griesbach military base in Edmonton (about 3 years ago) that has now been turned into a new subdivision of the same name. All the houses were vacant and had been boarded up already at the time of the photos. The interesting part is that most of these homes were eventually relocated in the newer subdivision design and refurbished into new units. I wonder, however, if they ever told this to the new home buyers?

The area where these pictures were taken has mostly been replaced with new roads and new houses now. Anybody recognize these old neighbourhoods? Take special note of the photo with the street sign still up if you want a better idea of location. Also notice the large open concept (no fences) that the base originally used. It's too bad that people can't still enjoy this type of layout nowadays. In this day and age, it's all about how many lots they can make on a patch of land at the sacrifice of a back yard. I would have loved being a child in this neighbourhood. No boundaries and everyone could keep a watch on you.
