Old Shell Gas Station

I snapped these photos about 2 years ago. This was an old Shell Gas Station that had been vacant for a few years already. Since I was certain that this building would fall to the bulldozer, I snapped some shots. It was located just off of Ellerslie road and faced Calgary Trail and the Leduc No. 1 historic site and visitor centre. I figure that this gas station once served the traffic along there as well as the Edmonton owned Campground I mentioned in the post before this one as the site is just up the road from there.

I just passed that area last week and the gas station is, in fact, gone.

I found your site by accident while looking for pieces of Alberta history. Now realize why this province is like heaven to me and many others who call her home and will never leave her.Keep up the good work.
I grew up in Edmoton and recall The Shell Station when it was being used. Even have fond memories of that station from years gone by.

Thank You for bringing a piece of heaven back to us that move to fast and forget the good time. You just made me slow down and look around see look at things a little better before it's all gone like the service station or the house down the the street. Once gone they never come back.

Thank You

I worked here for 7 years back in the early to late 90's. It was the second highest volume Shell in all of Edmonton. Then they reconfigured the Ellerslie intersection and cut off the free flow of traffic in to the station and back onto the highway. Shortly after, the pumps were cut off. Thanks for the photos. Lots of great memories.
